Abstract

The paper describes the experience within the process improvement program in Siemens VDO AG, division Interior and Infotainment, with special focus on the particular situation of its two Romanian sites: Timisoara and Iasi.

We present the Romanian involvement in the definition of the process for Siemens VDO AG, division Interior and Infotainment. This process was assessed as CMMI® Level 3 compliant and it is currently used in 10 sites across 3 continents for projects with a large scale of complexity.

The paper highlights as well the very good results we have in deploying this process within Siemens VDO Romania, in spite of the initial challenging circumstances:

  • Limited experience on the country level on process improvement
  • Limited understanding of the importance of certifications, process management, standards and quality control
  • Young project teams (team age average below 28 years) with no working experience in intercultural and virtual teams
  • No or limited experience in project and line management.
